Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a workout technique where resistance training or aerobic exercises are performed while a tourniquet or specialized cuff/band is applied to the limbs to restrict blood flow. The purpose of BFR is to partially restrict the venous blood flow from the muscle while maintaining arterial blood flow. This creates a hypoxic environment (low oxygen) in the muscle, which is thought to accelerate muscle hypertrophy (growth) and strength gains even when using low loads. ► Learn more about BFR Training.
